13th/14th April UK Final Sport City
Manchester.
Manchester UK final 14th April. 2019
Only 4 girls and 2 boys made it to Manchester Sport City for the UK
final. With one athlete sadly injuring herself the day before at a league
meeting and it was impossible to get a replacement at the last minute, the
unfortunately Imogen Davis’s car broke down on the way so was unable to get
there. Freya Jury’s car got a puncture on the way up but still made it, as
did Nathanial Ryan’s Dad who also had car problems but managed to get there,
but it did not bode well for the day!
It was decided that the 4 girls would
still compete as a team. Freya Jury, Libby Turbutt, Georgia Baker and Jessie
Sargeant. The girls did themselves proud coming 6th with 1008 points 274
points behind the winner Surrey. Last year Kent scored 1150 points to come
3rd (935 individual points and 95 for the paarlauf). This year just 4 girls
scored 908 individual points plus 100 for the 4x100m relay. A fantastic
score and one can only think what we could have done if we had been able to
field a full team. Freya Jury came 4th in the individual all-rounder with
271pts she came 3rd in the speed bounce with 86. Georgia Baker came next
with 234pts finishing 3rd in the vertical jump. Libby Turbutt scored 210 and
Jessie Sargeant the youngest in the group scored 193.
Nathanial Ryan was invited as an
individual to Manchester as his speed bounce was the best for the season
around the UK, he bounced a great 89 to claim the bronze medal. William Jury
was also invited as the top U13 boy in the speed bounce finishing 4th with
86. The first 3 places being tied with 88, William currently holds the U13
boy’s English Sportshall record with his 93 result from the regionals.
Well done to all those who made the
National final and we look forward to the 2020 regionals.

Regional Final
Burgess Hill 3rd March 2019- U11 match
For the
first time in many years the weather on the regional final day was sunny and
not snowy. This meant that everyone managed to get to The Triangle Leisure
Centre at Burgess Hill without too much trouble. For the first time the U11s
and older age groups competed on the same day with the younger athletes in
the morning and the older ones in the afternoon, it all seemed to work okay,
but it meant a long day for those with children in two age groups taking
part.
It was a
fantastic day for the U11s with both the boys' and girls' teams winning team
gold.
A few
stumbles in the first relays got us off to a slow start but things improved
through the morning. In the girls' team Elicia Lacey came 3rd in
the foam javelin with 15m and 2nd in the standing triple jump
with 6.38m although a possible mistake in the results means this might be
upgraded to 1st. Elicia was also part of the winning grand prix
team with Deborah Sujadje, Tilly Cunliff and Olivia Campbell who also
finished 3rd in the soft javelin with 15m, Violet Maxted won the
vertical jump with 56cm and Humairaa Rabbani took 2nd with 55cm.
Evie Dixon claimed 1st place in the speed bounce with 60 bounces
and was 3rd in the Standing triple jump with 6.20m. Isabelle
Amarty and Hannah Areeson were equal 1st in the balance test both
managed the full time of 60 seconds. Tallulah Jago won the chest push with
7m, whilst Demi Wrangle came 5th in both the standing triple jump
5.98m and scored 10 points in the target throw, and Ella Thomas jumped 54 in
the speed bounce to come 7th. Kitti Holroyd, Violet Maxted,
Isabelle Amarty and Zaina Orenuga were part of the over and under relay team
which came 2nd.
In the
boys Callum James won the soft javelin (21m) and was 2nd in the
vertical jump (50cm) with Maurice Roberts equal on the same score. Oscar
Heselton and Aaron Brown both came equal 1st in the balance test
with 60 seconds. Ben Dewar came 2nd in the standing long jump
2.17m. Quentin Webb jumped into 2nd in the speed bounce with 58.
Jacob Smith came 3rd with 57 bounces and George Walker 5th
with 56 bounces, whilst Jan Lousberg was 3rd in the standing
triple 6.24m. Henry Wenn, Callum James, George Vincent and Ben Dewar came 2nd
in the hurdle relay. Aaron Brown, George Walker, Jireh George and Joseph
Parkin ran the 4x1 relay. William Hirst joined Jireh and Joseph Parkin in
the High Stepper finishing in joint 1st place. Paul Hobley was
part of the Obstacle relay team and competed in the High stepper.
